Low End Theory May Podcast

This podcast we start off the great month of May with a peak into Carl Spackler's life and what he has coming for him, which is nice. Carl blends into our first track of the month. This leads into Willie Williams with Coxone Dodd and Armagideon Time. I know what you are saying, it sounds so familiar. We sneak in Step it Pon the Rastaman Scene a smoked out bonus track off of the Easy Star All-Stars classic Dub Side of the Moon. Strictly Roots!. Lets go back to Willie Williams, some of you may have found that song familiar and rightfully so if you are a fan of the Only Band That Matters - The Clash. The Clash recorded that Williams track and did it justice. This next track is by former Clash frontman Joe Strummer  & The Mescaleros with At the Border Guy. There are a few people in history you wished could live forever; Johnny Cash and Phil Hartman come to mind and so does Mr Strummer. It's been 4 1/2 years since Joe has passed and if we ever find a way to bring people back can we put him ahead of Ted Williams? Next up it is the Bull Wackies duo known as Love Joys with Long Lost Lover - is there a better driving song? Don't even come at me with Radar Love! Desmond Dekker is next with his classic Israelites. It's been a year since this legend joined the great gig in the sky. Everyone knows this song, if you don't act like you know. Cotton Belly and Tempest Dub drop in for some righteous teachings - you act right, you get right. Toronto's own Nick Holder gives us some dubby house straight outta the Big Smoke with Moments in Dub. Oh that voice, yes I said it last month and will say it every time we spin Horace, Andy that is. His classic Skylarking still stands the test of time. No No No? Yes Yes Yes! It's Dawn Penn with the track that put her in the history books, No No No (You Don't Love Me). We sneak back over the Love Joys camp and Are You Ready? Yes we are, right? Winston Rodney AKA Burning Spear with probably one of the most rewound songs in roots Reggae - Marcus Garvey. Tell me you aren't itching to rewind that first bar over and over. Lord A Mercy!. The first month we dropped some DnB Tenor Saw, this month we bring his Ring the Alarm track. This has been sampled so many times, now you know the source. The first time I heard Dillinger - Flat Foot Hustlin' I thought the DJ was playing a trick on me. Reggae DJ's - I mean just record spinners - tend be a little 'happy' and play records together. I thought this was the case here, nope just some deep, deep roots. International Herb by Culture features the voice of frontman Joseph Hill came out around the same time as some other reggae artists didn't mind telling the world that they horticulture pretty seriously. Joe died last summer and he was giving it his all right up to his death. RIP Mr. Hill. Almost like a cool summer breaze One Love from Bill Laswell's Songs of Freedom slides nicely into Indian Ropeman feat. Shain Badir and 66 Meters. We head over the bay area and Oakland for a classic Hip Hop treat from the Souls of Mischief and '93 to Infinity. We go back the Bill Laswell lab and his redubbing of Tapper Zuckie's Man a Warrior.

Now slowly get up from the floor and before you press repeat do what you need to do. Let the dog in, cat out. Refill your beverage, call Grandma, answer the door. Do it quickly before it wears off
